Last week, Monty Moore-Yetter, a Loyola junior, Class of 2026, made history at Nationals in Chicago by breaking the Loyno swim record in the 100-meter breaststroke.
Monty’s competitive swimming journey started early, influenced by his mother’s love for the sport. On his seventh birthday, his parents put him straight into the pool, saying, “You’re going to swim, son.”
Beyond competition, swimming has played a significant role in Moore-Yetter’s life and mindset. “It definitely kept me in shape and out of trouble,” he said. “It took up a lot of time and made me very responsible.”
With his recent success at Nationals, Moore-Yetter is setting himself and the rest of the Loyola swim team high expectations for next season. When asked about goals and aims, he responded, “Just to see how many records I can break. That’s what I love—it just makes it more competitive.”
